Serious gamers can now get a new addiction. Motion controlled gaming has arrived and you don’t have to wait for Santa to drop one under the tree for Christmas.
Microsoft has launched the new system at big box stores stores like Best Buy, and online at Amazon. There are 17 different titles currently available that can run on the Kinect system.
Hands free controller gaming incorporates your own body movements as part of the action and you have to dodge and weave and twist in the games just as if you were trying to avoid being tackled in a real football game.
Preliminary reviews coming in indicate it’s pretty additive gaming.
The Kinect system consists of three sensors in a single unit that connects to the 360 X-box. For those with an existing X-box they can buy just the control unit for $149.99. The Kinect gaming system can also be bought packaged with two different X-box systems.
A 4GB system sells for $299 and the 250GB X-box 360 unit is $399.
The Kinect controller is a motorized bar with built in sensors that pivots and detects the player’s body motion and voice commands. You don’t need to hold the controller as you play. A camera, microphone, and depth perception element inputs all your body language information into the system.
