– Wood Green Animal Shelters is appealing for dog owners to rummage through their lofts, basements and cupboards in a bid to find some dog friendly accessories.
The Shelters’ Hands On team are urging people to donate new or used leads and collars, walking and car harnesses, head collars including haltis, gentle leaders and gen cons.
They are also looking for dog toys, rawhide chews and treats.
Outreach officer Hayley Hurley said: “Our Hands On team works with dog owners in local communities across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and London to keep their dogs happy, healthy and safe.
“We have done this by providing more than 300 leads, collars, harnesses and toys in the last year to those who need them most homeless owners and those on very low incomes.
“We also provide harnesses or head collars for those dogs who may be rehomed because they pull too much or are hard to control on a normal lead. This also improves local dog walking areas, ensuring that dogs are properly controlled in public areas.
“For the dogs it means they can stay in a home with a family who love them. For Wood Green, each time an owner gives a donation for these items it helps the animals in out care who are still looking for that forever home.”
To donate items, you can place them in our designated outreach donation bins at our three shelters in Godmanchester, Heydon and London.
Alternatively you can post them to the Wood Green Animal Shelters, King’s Bush Farm, London Road, Godmanchester, PE29 2NH.
